Bungee jumps are very recent adventure sports in the world, the first jumps were made on 1 April 1979 from the 250-foot Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, by David Kirke, Chris Baker, Simon Keeling, Tim Hunt and Alan Weston of the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club. Interestingly, the first jumpers were arrested shortly after due to the safety and security reasons. Bungee jump in Nepal has become a fashion - immensely popular adventure sport among the Nepalis and foreigners alike. The only bungee jump station of Nepal near the Nepal-China Border at The Last Resort is world’s deepest bungee fall - 160 meters fall from a high bridge into the roaring Bhote-Kosi gorge. When the cord reaches its natural length the jumper either starts to slow down or keeps accelerating depending upon the speed of descent. According to the jumper’s weight a Green, Red or Black cord is used to attach around one ankle joint of the jumper. |
