Nine national parks, four wild-life reserves, & three conservation areas covering almost 18 percent of the Nepal’s land area inhabit a wide range of wild and endangered species like tiger, rhino, elephant including hundreds others. The protected areas in the lowland Terai preserve such endangered species like the tiger, one horned rhino, leopard, and sloth bear. The tall wild grasses make a perfect habitat for the elephants. An elephant Safari into the national parks allows you to discover Nepal’s tiny jungle patches that offer as much variety of wild beast & their preys that may be found in the entire African continent. Most jungle safari consists of canoe rides in the Jungle Rivers as well as nature walks, birds watching excursions plus quick tours around villages to discover the unique culture and traditions of the local village people. There are scheduled cultural-musical programs as well performed by the villagers as part of the Jungle Safari itinerary. Chitwan National Park is UNESCO enlisted World Heritage Site which specializes in balance the breeding endangered wild beasts like the tiger, elephant, & rhinos. Chitwan is a tropical forest, and Nepal one major river system, the Gandaki flows right through it. The river not only waters the land, quenches the wild thirst, but also homes rare aquatic creatures like crocodile & freshwater dolphins. Although not as famous as the Chitwan Park, but Bardiya National Park on the western Nepal is also a tropical park sharing its habitat with the India jungles & their beasts with truly wild settings. For Bardiya, you need to fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj & then head toward the Park on a jeep or bus. Koshi Tappu region is increasing getting popular for its unique tropical climate on the banks of one of Asia’s largest rivers. There are more than 280 species of birds in the reserve and it is also a resting place for migrating birds that can’t be seen elsewhere in Nepal. |
