The Everest Region is world’s most popular mountaineering region. Not only the highest Mt. Everest, but hundreds of over 6,000 meters peaks like Lho Tse, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Nuptse, Amadablam, and Pumori witness hundreds of summiteers every year. The region has been recognized by the UNESCO as the World Heritage Site, and protected under the Nepal Government as the SagarMatha Natioanal Park.The mountains in the Park are geologically young and are broken up by gorges and glacial valleys. Nepal Government has also declared a buffer zone in and around the park with the objective of reducing biotic pressure in the slow growing vegetation. The visitors are required to pay an entrance fee and observe the Park rules & regulations. Permit Rules for the Everest Region ( Sagarmatha National Park) Entry Fee: NRs 1,000/person. The use of firewood, mountain bikes, motor bikes, and non-biodegradable items are prohibited inside the Park area. Campings are only allowed in designated areas. Disturbing flora and fauna as well as purchasing wildlife trophies and religious artifacts may invite penalty.
