The Annapurna region is not only Nepal’s but one of the world’s most popular trekking regions. Annapurna region covers an area of 7629 sq. km. Beginning from 790 m, the highest altitude reaches 8091 m of the Mountain Annapurna 1. The region is replenished with diverse adventure possibilities coupled with scenic grandeur & muti-cultural heritage in the area. The Annapurna region is now protected area under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project(ACAP). The project covers the areas of Kaski, Mustang, Manang, and Lamjung districts of central Nepal. The ACAP is a government undertaking established to protect the area from the increasing pressures of population growth, poverty, and tourism. Hence, the ACAP regulation requires the travelers get a permit before they begin trekking in the Annapurna area. The income generated from the entry fees are spent to explore and manage tourism facilities in the area & minimize the threat of tourism. Trek Permit Rules for the Annapurna Region: The Entry fee: For Foreign Nationals: NRs 2000/person For SAARC Nationals: Rs 200/person Note: Double fee is levied if permit is issued from the field checkpoints. - Special permit required from the Department of Immigration for trekking in the designated areas like Upper Mustang , and Nar & Phu.
- Special permit required from Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMP) for ascending the trekking peaks.
- Special permit required from the Ministry of Information for documentary filming, and also get approvals from NNTC-ACAP.
- Special permit required from the local Conservation Area Management Committees.
Get approval before collecting scientific specimens from NTNC-ACAP.
